Nigel is a highly experienced actuary and insurance professional. Prior to joining Inclusivity Solutions he ran an independent actuarial consultancy where he provided strategic advice, business case development, financial modelling, and product development services to life insurance companies operating in the emerging insurance markets of Sub Saharan Africa. He also consulted extensively to the Centre for Financial Regulation and Inclusion (Cenfri) on a number of microinsurance-related projects including insurance market diagnostics in Tanzania and Mozambique, the regulation of informal funeral insurance providers, and the development of a measure of the financial value provided by life microinsurance programs.

In his 18 years in the industry, Nigel has held a number of influential positions in some of South Africa’s largest life insurance companies, mostly notably heading the product function for Metropolitan International’s expansion within Africa for seven years.

Nigel is a qualified actuary (Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa) and has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Stellenbosch. He is currently Chair of the International Actuarial Association’s Microinsurance Working Group.
